Web Development Tips
With all the new Web Development I have been doing lately I have learned some great new tips, I moved my websites from my own Linux servers over to Bluehost (see add to the left) and it has worked out great, all my websites on one server for one price, all the email accounts.. everything in one package.
LogMeIn now available for Apple
After being a longtime user of Log Me In for my Windows computers I have been bitching that its not available for Apples OS X, well no longer... its available in Beta for free for Apple users, yes you heard me right log me in is available for OSX. This will allow Apple users to log into their machines from anywhere and use the machine as if they were sitting in fromt of it, a free remote desktop software that will blast through your home or work firewall and works with pretty much any internet connection; either Static or Dynamic IP adress is no trouble for log me in.
New Webhost (Bluehost)
well after running my own servers for some time I have moved a few sites over to bluehost (this site is still on my own servers until I get the content moved over nicely) I will say that this company rocks, they give you a ton of space, bandwidth seems great, I can host as many sites as I want and still only pay $6.95 a month, it includes emails for any of my domains, so far its unreal how nice th
Firewire SDK - Tivo Killer
As everyone knows I am somewhat of a Tivo freak, its one of my favorite electronic toys there is; I own two Tivo’s along with a couple computers running Tivo server software so I can store shows for later use.
OS X Gone (Part Duex)
Well it looks as though my story about OS X being dropped by Apple is one step closer ( http://trialsoftheswitch.com/apple-drops-os-x ) Reading about how Apple is going to release iPhoto for Windows, so this is the part where I say Apple is porting the whole iLife suit to Windows for a reason, reason being is OS X will fade away; read my article and see my thoughts.
The Leopard Delay
I have just read about 100 different sites on people yapping about Apple pushing off the release date for their new OS for some months, I truely don’t mind too much, it would just be another OS I would have to buy bringing the total up around the $600 mark in OS and this is not to mention iLife upgrades.
Windows Vista Experience
Well… at work this week we decided it was time for me to get a new workstation (I do engineering using Pro Engineer); my last workstation we built using an AMD Athlon 64 and it has been an awesome machine; after looking at pricing ofbuilding our own, we thought we would give buying one a try instead of building one.
Tivo and Amazon.com UnBox
Tivo recently started a service called Unbox, it allows me to log into amazon and browse through a number of TV shows and Movies and with the click of a mouse they upload to my Tivo and are watchable either for 24 hours if I opt to rent it, or for ever if I buy it.
Anywhere Remote - Tivo
Well recently I posted that I had purchased a 32″ LCD tv for my bedroom, and plan on hooking a mac mini to it to run my home automation, I haven’t bought the Mini yet, but I did have to work a little magic to get things how I wanted them.
Westinghouse 32″ Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
So I finally belly’d up to the bar and bought a 32″ LCD to hang on my bedroom wall, all I can say is Wow… this thing is great, I had it sitting on the floor for a few days waiting for the mounting bracket to hang it; so I had a Windows Media Center PC that I have using the VGA input, also had my powerbook 17″ hooked up using the HDMI input (using a DVI to HDMI adapter) sure works
